5 Black women shaping the future in 2020

Nicole is the founder of Black Girl Fest, which was designed to amplify the voices of Black women, girls and non-binary people, through community-based talks, festival and workshops. The US have quite a few of these types of events, but Black Girl Fest is the UK’s first festival celebrating Black women and girls. Nicole usually hosts physical events, but this year, for obvious reasons, she’s run digital versions.

She’s created a platform for Black women to have a space to talk about issues that are important to us, from Black feminist history to the science of Black hair, as well as highlighting Black successful women and unifying them so that they’re voices are louder. An entrepreneur, public speaker and cultural producer, she’s a voice for the next generation.
